Tutka upgraded 0.7 mile of road in the Village of Gakona for improved safety and school bus access and turnaround. Tutka provided all the necessary heavy equipment and labor to safely construct the road and bus turnaround.
Work included: Clearing, Grubbing, Road-way Excavation, Borrow A, Crushed Aggregate Base Course, and Chip Sealing.
Scheduling was once again a key part of this project as the project was awarded in mid-summer and had to be chip sealed by the 15th of August in order for the chips to set up correctly. The project was completed on-time and under budget. Tutka utilized local individuals and Alaskan Natives to perform labor such as flagging and pipe installation.
There was zero lost time or restricted work case accidents during this project of over 3,000 man-hours.
